About me
I am a botanist and community ecologist from Peru. My work has been mainly focused on drylands. I have conducted research about non-trophic interaction in the hyperarid Peruvian desert that led me to pursue my PhD on biological soil crust and climate change in Western United States. I am part of a NSF collaborative research group on Desiccation and Diversity in Dryland Mosses and a research fellow at the Canyonland Research Center. Read more about my research here.
I have also worked in the Peruvian Amazon, leading botanical expeditions, ecological evalutaions, and working with native indigenous communities. My research interests include impacts of natural and climatic disturbances on plant communities, effects of biodiversity on populations and communities, trait-mediated ecology, soil ecology, biological soil crusts and plant-plant interactions.
